Archiving the history and tradition of the Saint Barnabas’s Memorial Episcopal Church in Falmouth on
Cape Cod “Preserving our history one scan at a time.”
The digital archiving project began at Saint Barnabas’s in December 2020 under the coordination of the Parish Archivist. During 2021 the records archiving group has grown to six volunteers working on the organizing, classifying, scanning and data entry of thousands of documents, images and other miscellaneous items.
The overall goal of this effort is the preservation of our extensive historical records collection and having the ability to share our collection with our church family and our community.
During the past year, over 9,000 records have been organized, scanned, and added to our record management system by a dedicated team of six volunteers.
Working in conjunction with the archivist of The Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts, we are about to begin the digitizing of our Sacramental Records collection which spans over 130 years of parish history.
It should be noted that this effort would not have been possible without the dedicated archival work of Jean Platt and Joy Morrison whose 30+ years commitment to organizing our records making this digitization step possible.
